This survey was undertaken to obtain objective data about water use of cattle exported from Australia a result of a preliminary analysis that identified the water consumption of cattle was affected by the type and class of cattle as well as ship design. The report evaluated data from 87 shipments of cattle and found minimum water requirements should be set as a percentage of bodyweight and the use of troughs and drinker bowls was found to affect water consumption.
