The project was developed from a need to satisfy regulatory authorities that the industry has the knowledge and experience to manage the air transport of livestock in a safe and effective manner. The report details the development of version 2 of the Livestock Air Transport Safety Assessment (LATSA) software that provides estimates of environmental hold conditions for a diverse range of livestock exported in freighter and passenger aircraft from Australia. The software provided the industry with a reasonably flexible and accurate model that can be used to predict key outcomes onboard flights transporting livestock.
