These guides highlight the importance of understanding and communication effectively with animals in order to improve animal welfare. The ‘Livestock handling guide’ covers a number of topics that include; OIE animal welfare standards, the commercial benefits of improved animal welfare, flight zones of animals, herd behaviour, animal senses and communicating with animals. The guide includes a booklet and flip-cards that can be used by personnel working on-board, vessels, unloading and loading vessels, truck drivers, feedlot employees and abattoir workers.

The Dos and Don’ts of Livestock Handling is available in English and Arabic and the Livestock Handling Guide is available in English, Arabic and Malaysian.
