This trial was to investigate best practice for exporting mature cows by sea. It measured the performance of groups of cows treated in different ways and compared the results with a control group. The treatment options were developed after consultation with industry to obtain their opinions on the most likely measures that may lead to improvements in animal performance in both a welfare and commercial context.
