This project was an outcome as a result of the recommendations outlined in ‘Opportunities to Improve Slaughter Standards and Profitability in Indonesia’ to achieve large welfare gains through low cost infrastructure improvements. 

This project was an outcome as a result of the recommendations outlined in ‘Opportunities to Improve Slaughter Standards and Profitability in Indonesia’ to achieve large welfare gains through low cost infrastructure improvements. The aim of the study was to summarise yard designs to improve animal welfare and working conditions as well as meat quality and shelf life. The development manual was distributed in Indonesia together with a DVD demonstrating the management and slaughter of cattle.
