The LEP’s Industry Capability Program works closely with government and industry to maintain the conditions for access to current markets and to develop opportunities to open new markets. One of its primary roles is liaising with exporters and other industry stakeholders to develop industry priorities for market access development and to provide industry advice on technical market access issues that arise.
A key mechanism for providing this prioritisation and advice is the industry/government Protocol Committee. The Committee meets approximately twice per year and includes representatives from the livestock export industry (exporter representatives which generally come from each of the main export zones and species); the sheep and cattle industries and the Australian Government Department of Agriculture (DoA).
