New Animal Welfare Manager for Indonesia

The Livestock Export Program (LEP) is excited to announce that Cameron McDonald has been appointed the new Animal Welfare Manager for Indonesia. Cameron will be based in Jakarta and will be responsible for delivering ongoing animal welfare improvements for Australian cattle exported to this important market.
Cameron will work closely with Indonesian feedlotters, abattoir managers and Government officials to oversee the delivery of animal handling training as well as the restraining box program, which focuses on ensuring Australian cattle are handled humanely and safely restrained at the point of slaughter.
Cameron has had a long involvement with the livestock export industry, starting as an onboard stockman and then working for an exporter before becoming a key trainer for the LEP’s stockman training courses. Cameron has just completed an in-market familiarisation visit and will be moving permanently to Jakarta with his wife Kate and son Angus in June.
