To become an exporter of livestock, which includes cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, camelids and alpacas, you are required by law to have a valid Livestock Export Licence.  This licence is obtainable from the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) in Canberra.

The criteria which have to be met to successfully obtain a licence include financial status, ethical and security status, and competency.  Competency is assessed through inspection of a company\'s "Operation and Governance" Manual which is a document setting out how the company intends to meet the provisons of the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock . All these criteria are assessed by AQIS.

Refer to the link AQIS Guidelines for obtaining a licence.
